Madeline Marie Roanhorse
LUKACHUKAI, Ariz. — Funeral services for Madeline Marie Roanhorse, 59, will be held today, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Isabel Mission in Lukachukai, Arizona. Viewing will take place one hour prior to service at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at the St. Isabel Mission Cemetery.
Madeline was born May 8, 1960, in Lukachukai, into the Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). Her nali is Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People); chei is Naakai dine’é (Mexican Clan). She passed away Oct. 19, 2019, in Oak Springs, Arizona.
Madeline is survived by George Roanhorse Jr., Emerson Roanhorse, Kathleen Bia, Georgianne Roanhorse-Klade, Valerie Roanhorse, and Lavonia Roanhorse.
Madeline is preceded in death by her brother, Harold Roanhorse.

Ronald Roger Tsinnie
TOHATCHI, N.M. — Funeral services for Ronald Roger Tsinnie, 43, were held Oct. 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tohatchi, New Mexico. Interment followed at the Tohatchi community cemetery.
Ronald was born Oct. 13, 1976, in Gallup, into the Haltsooí (Meadow People Clan), born for Tsé deeshgizhnii (Rock Gap Clan). His nali is Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People); chei is Bit’ahnii (Under His Cover). He passed away Oct. 16, 2019, in Gallup.
Ronald graduated from Tohatchi High School in 1992 and from CNTI in 1994. He was an avid Native American Church member and attended sweatlodges. He was a very humble man and always greeted everyone with a smile and warm hug.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Ashley; children, Angelino, Native, Navelia and Nylac; parents, Mary Dennison and Henry Tsinnie; sister, Naomi Brockwell; brother, Arnold Tsinnie; and maternal grandmother, Betty B. Dennison.
Ronald is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Arkie C. Dennison; and paternal grandparents, James and Fannie Tsinnie.
Pallbearers were Arnold Tsinnie, Herman Dennison, Oneil Dennison, Orlynda Dennison, Orlando Dennison and Lydell Dennison.

ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for John Francis Jr., 65, of Hunters Point, Arizona, will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at the St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. Michaels, Arizona, with Father José officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michaels.
John was born in Fort Defiance, into the Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan), born for Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan). He passed away Oct. 19, 2019.
Garrett Robert Nelson
GANADO, Ariz. — Funeral services for Garrett Robert Nelson, 42, of Steamboat, Arizona, were held Oct. 18 at the LDS Church in Ganado, Arizona, with Brother Cordero officiating. Interment followed at the family plot in Steamboat.
Garrett was born Nov. 22, 1976, in Fort Defiance, into the Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan), born for Naakai dine’é (Mexican Clan). He passed away Oct. 12, 2019, in Phoenix.
Garrett received a diesel mechanic associate’s degree and was unemployed, pending Social Security disability. He loved to play basketball, football, draw, play cards, play with his rifle BB gun, and loved to help people by working on their vehicles.
Garrett is survived by his wife, Cynthia Evans-Nelson; son, Deion Robert Nelson; daughters, Shania Rae Nelson, Cheyenne Roberta Nelson and Syrai Roberta Nelson; mother, Iris Nelson; brother, Augustine Nelson Jr.; sisters, Ernestine Nelson, Elvira Dedman, Steffanie Del-Angel, and Trudy Nelson; and granddaughter, Elena Nelson.
Garrett is preceded in death by his father, Augustine R. Nelson Sr.; and grandparents, Lena and John Sam.
Pallbearers were Carmeron Johnson, Murphy Toledo, Clarvin Toledo, Vincent Morgan, Mario Ashley Jr., and Lorenzo Jesus.
Honorary pallbearers were Deion Nelson, Shania Nelson and Augustine Nelson Jr.
Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
